Welcome
Annually, there are 600 - 700 students in our schools that are identified as homeless. Of that population, 75 - 90 are unaccompanied students. Imagine navigating your high school or young adult years without a safe, stable, and secure home of your own AND without any parental support.
After we started our teen internship program four years ago and as we have become more involved with Forsyth County Schools and the community, we have met many young people with housing insecurity who have a true desire to succeed in life. They want to finish high school, go to college or technical school, or focus on a career path. It’s difficult to focus on these goals in the face of food and housing insecurity. For the past three years we have been working to identify a solution for these young people.
Welcome to The Place Cottage!
Modeled on sorority housing, The Place Cottage will provide a collegial and supportive atmosphere conducive to study, building relationships, and productivity. Program staff will help residents focus on life skills, career, and education goals to reach self-sufficiency.
We were so excited when we found this house. The Board of Directors was willing to purchase the house as a gift to young women in our community. With your support we can offer a safe home to sleep and encouragement to reach their goals and fulfill their potential.
We have purchased the house, but we need YOUR help to make it a HOME.
